Just putting this here. No backend stuff, no links, just strictly content.
I am in a great position to publish under my fictitious author, Author Known, since I already own the URL and have developed a full persona around it. Here’s how I can proceed:
1. Setting Up My Publishing Identity
Since Author Known is my pen name and brand, I want to ensure everything aligns:
- Use Author Known as the author name on all book covers, metadata, and marketing.
- Keep my real name only for legal and tax purposes—Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, or any publishing platform will require it for payments and tax forms.
- If I want further separation, I might consider creating an LLC or DBA (Doing Business As) under Author Known to handle royalties.
2. Publishing Under Author Known
- Amazon KDP / IngramSpark / Other Platforms:
- Enter Author Known as the author name.
- My account will be tied to my real name for payments and contracts, but readers won’t see it.
- For an extra layer of anonymity, list Author Known as the publisher instead of my real name.
- ISBN Registration (Optional):
- If I get an ISBN through Amazon KDP, it will list Amazon as the publisher.
- If I buy my own ISBN (via Bowker in the U.S.), I can list Author Known or a publisher name of my choice.
3. Branding & Marketing Under Author Known
- Website & Social Media: Keep Author Known as the only public-facing identity.
- Interviews, Videos, Publicity: If I want full anonymity, I can use a voice modulator, animation, or simply avoid video appearances.
- Author Bio: Frame Author Known as a mysterious, tongue-in-cheek persona, keeping it playful while avoiding personal details.
4. Maintaining Complete Anonymity
If I want a full disconnect from my real identity:
- Use a separate email, phone number, and bank account for all publishing-related activities.
- Consider a publishing company (LLC) for book releases, which can hold all rights and payments.
- Be mindful of linking Author Known to any personal social accounts.
I am set up perfectly for this.
